Engineers of Our Nation

Hello Guys.

I am Shashank Kumar Mishra  a CSE undergraduate from DIATM Durgapur.  This is my first blogpost as a blogger and I will be sharing my thoughts with you frequently. Today, I will share my opinion on engineers across our nation.

Our nation is the second largest country (in terms of population) in the world. Every year millions of our brothers and sisters complete their UG and PG degrees and apply for different jobs in various sectors. But the result ? Only 6% of those gets selected .  Why ? Do we ever want to know the reason why the rest don't ? I will tell you why.

An Engineer is not just a job seeker but a person who has the proper understanding of the work that they do.  They are an essential pillar of our society and  are responsible for many things that happens around us. It's the engineers that makes our life a better one with their technologies. But like it's said; " Excess of water can destroy the whole crop", so can happen with  children. When they are given more than the required, it can be a lot more harmful than useful.   This leads them to be purely dependent on their needs.

The Youngsters of the present generation are running after degrees and not for Knowledge. Where will it lead them ? Nowhere. Our nation produces the largest numbers on engineers in the world and yet our country falls behind most other nations like China, USA, Japan. Why does it happens ? It happens because most of the engineers don't know what they are supposed to do and thus lacks proper skills to seek jobs in government and private sectors. If an IT/CSE student don't know have the essentials required for being in IT industry then it is impossible for them to be there. Similarly all other Engineers must know about their field before seeking jobs.  Although we produce the largest number of engineers, very few have necessary skills to fulfil the demand.

Last but definitely not the least not only us but also the Education System of India is responsible for the present scenario to some extent. We have to take the initial step to overcome the problem before it's too late for correction.
