Life Story of an Engineer

While in Secondary all of us had some dream, some different than others. Some intelligent souls (mostly the toppers ) had their next 4-5 years neatly planned while others were still trying to figure out how their own pen had been replaced by other. In future, some of them would become  Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, artists, models  etc. The soul who achieved very good grades would become part of some highly reputed institutions namely IIT's, IIIT's, AIIMS, etc. Then there are students who want to become "Engineers" not by their own choice of course. They only follow their own friends and opt for "PCM" in Higher Secondary. Somehow fighting against all odds, these fellas overcome all obstacles with only one thought, "Admission in an Engineering College".  Finally, after everything they get admission in an Engineering college and hence begin their journey which in future will be remembered as  "The Journey of a Lifetime ".

We all have this "Perfect college life" vision where we have our own "So-called Group" and a Beautiful Girlfriend (not that it's a bad vision, but many a times impractical). But reality is far from it. When we get into a college we are burdened with lots of new things like a whole new atmosphere, new work load and of course ragging. By the time we adjust with all these issues and look around, we find all the girls of our year(hell, it hurt's a lot to see your crush with a senior)  involved with a senior. When we overcome these small heartbreaks we realize that we have to take our tests, exams, vivas, practicals etc etc. Then and only then we revert back to our studies that is about to take it's troll on us. Somehow we help each others and pass all these, we announce all that we are ready to face more. We think and dream a lot when we are a first year but all we do to achieve them is wait.

We begin a new semester with a thought "I will study from the beginning" but never do so. We go back to the same old routine of thinking, watching girls, thinking, enjoying with friends, watching girls again, troubling teachers and repeat them all over again. By the time we overcome these , we come to realize that the semester exam is knocking on  our door yet again. We do the same thing again and again to pass them but one thing is very much common in Engineering, "What is Engineering if we don't get a backlog" and many a time we have near experience with it. We engineers take about 40 semester exams, 120 internals, 40 vivas, 30practicals , submit 50 plus assignments throughout 8 semesters.

Final Year is the doorway to a life that we choose amongst all. We the engineers are about to start a new journey of our life. Final Year is the most important time in any engineer's life because we are very desperate to get a job. And why not ? How can we forget the infamous dialogue of the legendary movie 3 Idiots, "If You don't get a good job, no father will give you their daughter". This is a motivating factor of many of us to try our best. Even with everything we get a taste of both the fruits(success and failure) of the same tree that we planted in our very first year. When we are about to leave our college life behind, we remember all the wonderful memories that we shared. The funs and the jokes, the pranks that we played on each others would become a memory to cherish forever.

You know, people give us engineers very little credit than we deserve. We had to overcome so much odds in just 4 years and we learned a lot. We changed not because we wanted to but because we had to. These four years of Engineering taught us the most important lesson of life, it taught us about life itself. So, we are proud of what we are because what we are is what most cannot be. "WE ARE ENGINEERS"
